Why do you give us knowledge and wisdom then ask us to be blind in order to see you, to only have faith in you? Why do you give us consciousness and righteousness and ask us to be fair and just, to even make sacrifices, when around us all are greedy, dirty, and winning; when we cannot make any more sacrifices because we’d be dragging others with us too; when having to be right and fair means we have to punish some and congratulate others, when doing good to some means hurting others? Why do u give us love, then intertwine all kinds of love, so that loving some means getting away from others, even hurting them? Why do you give us love, happiness in its union, satisfaction in sharing it, ability to give it, express it and offer it as our only treasure, then forbid its expression? Why forbid it when it’s a lover that would introduce me to you and through our love I’ve discovered yours? When we’d spend nights talking about u? Why call us sinners when we’re only lovers? Why give us life, God, why give us parents, why give us guides, why make us see your love through theirs, why give us moments of happiness and love, why make us love them so much, then make them age faster than us? Why give us life through them then take them away? Why ask us to be pure like children, when I’m only a child around them? Why give us life, then death, then miracle, only not to everyone? Why do u give me hope of seeing my dad coming through the door after reading what you did to a friend of yours; have I not cried as much as his sisters’, have I not loved you as much as them, have I not believed enough? Why is my mum always sad and crying though she prays more than the saints, for the paraclete? Why have you given her a husband so wonderful that she’d forgotten the world, and then took him away and her world away? Have I not lost her there too? How can I make her smile again? How can I bring her back to life again? By leaving or staying? By studying for my doctorate or starting work? Why would you give us parents and us to please them then take them away when we’re able to? Why give me perpetual questioning and quest for answers, then tell me with you many questions are unanswered? Why ask me to pray, to ask, but I rarely do because I’m not greedy, and when I do, you never answer? And God knows, You know, how much I knocked on your door, how my hands started bleeding and my eyes looked at the ocean and thought is was so small next to their tears? Why ask us to ask, then give miracles to some and to others Jacob? Why give us family and love and friends, then ask us to forget them all and follow you? What have they done you?? Can’t you see the love that binds us, can’t you see it’s all due to you, can’t you see it’s your greatest work? Can’t you keep us from blaming you to their loss? Why should we thank you for keeping them then? Why do we think you care about us, when it’s all part of a bigger plan? Am I so little, so small that I don’t count, do my plans contradict yours so much? But who am I to dare do so, who am I but a girl who’s not willing to let go… just a girl who still believes in you, who still loves you, you, the source of all these words, just a seeking girl who’s only too afraid to lose herself to doubt. So allow me to ask you: Why, God, why?
